Pioneer Engineer was founded in 2020 on a single conviction — that an industrial automation firm should be run by the engineer who writes the program, not by the salesperson who pitches it. 30+ years of controls work sits behind the company name. The work has been on the bench, in the cabinet, and on commissioning floors — not in a slide deck.
The discipline is narrow on purpose: PLC programming, HMI design, SCADA architecture, motion control, robotic integration. The platforms travel — Rockwell Studio 5000 and RSLogix, Siemens TIA Portal and WinCC, Yaskawa MotionWorks, Fanuc and Yaskawa Motoman, FactoryTalk View, Dream Report. What stays constant is the approach: simulate before you cut metal, document for the audit that comes later, and stay reachable after commissioning is done.
The firm stays small on purpose too. The engineer who scopes your project is the engineer who writes its code and the engineer who answers the phone at 2 a.m. when something needs attention. There is no handoff, because there is no one to hand off to.
Three phases, no surprises.
Industrial automation goes wrong the same ways every time — scope drift, integration surprises, an engineer who disappears after commissioning. The process exists to prevent each one, in order.
Discovery
We walk the line, read your scope, and talk to the operators who actually run it. The point is to surface every constraint the spec sheet missed — the cycle-time floor, the cleaning cycle, the SKU mix change that nobody plans for. The first deliverable is a written brief covering what you want, what it will cost, and what could surprise us before we sign anything.
Engineer
Architecture, controller selection, motion sizing, HMI flow, SCADA topology — engineered in that order, not assembled from samples. Motion is profiled and simulated against the spec in Studio 5000 or TIA Portal before any axis turns. HMI screens are reviewed with the operators who will use them, not with the procurement team that bought them. Every layer documented for the audit that comes later.
Deploy & Support
Commissioning is on site, with your operators in the room and your maintenance team learning the platform alongside us. After that comes long-tail support — phone, remote, on site, retrofit — because a system you can’t reach the engineer for is a system that goes dark at 2 a.m. The engineer who wrote your program is the same one who picks up.
